Email policies

In order to manage server resources and keep the mail server off of block lists, we have a few email policies in place.

  • Each domain (and subdomain) is limited to 500 outgoing email messages per hour. If you exceed this limit, messages will be bounced back to you as undeliverable. Wait 1 hour for the server to reset your account status. If you are sending email to a large list, please throttle the sending program to wait 8 seconds between emails to control the load on the server.
  • Each connecting IP address is limited to 30 POP3 or IMAP checks per hour. If you have multiple users checking email from a single IP address, you may need to change your email check frequency settings. If you exceed this limit, you will get a “wrong password” or “login incorrect” error from your mail program. Wait 1 hour for the server to unblock your IP address.
  • Messages in your Trash folder on the server that are over 30 days old will be deleted by an automated process.
  • Due to strict email policies at Google and Yahoo!, please do not create any email forwarders to accounts at those providers. See the following to learn how to check your domain’s email directly from those providers:
