Password management

The recommendations are everywhere: use strong passwords, don’t reuse passwords, change your passwords frequently. With so many different sites and services requiring passwords, this can easily get unmanageable. In my work, I have to maintain hundreds of passwords, but I only know one—one good, strong password. This password gets me access to an encrypted database containing all of the others. With a few keystrokes I can log in to the site I need and never even see the password.

There are a few password keepers available, but my favorite is KeePass. It works under Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Android, Linux, and other platforms. If you store your database in a Dropbox folder, you can keep your passwords synced across multiple devices.
